Water & Environmental

Florida is changing. Where there is change, there can be uncertainty. Navigating this uncertainty takes a gut-level understanding and intellectual appreciation of the competing interests at work. At Florida Environmental, Fire & Government Law, P.A. (EFG), we know that economic opportunity is based on environmental sustainability. We understand that resources can be used while not being used up.

EFG is intent on meeting these challenges for our clients while protecting Florida’s environmental and economic resources.

EFG has extensive experience serving as legal counsel to utilities, working with local governments and water management districts and in the handling of all phases of cases before the Division of Administrative Hearing and other government bodies.

EFG understands the environmental regulatory framework due to its involvement in writing the rules.  Recently, Laura Jacobs Donaldson was a member of the team that drafted a new DEP rule chapter associated with the implementation of potable reuse in Florida.  EFG is on top of potential conflicts with, and improvements to, current best management practices and the regulations that apply them. Simply put, EFG knows the way through the maze of government regulation, and EFG will act swiftly and effectively to protect our clients’ interests.

EFG also provides protection for existing permit holders by challenging regulations or rules that adversely impact our clients. As water use permits have become increasingly difficult to move through the permitting process, EFG has been successful in securing and defending needed water supplies for public and private sector clients.

EFG offers a unique blend of experience in a variety of environmental and water fields, including:

  • Consumptive use permitting
